Biography

Where ancient Astrologers got the idea that Sagittarius should be represented by the half horse, half archer mutation is anybody's guess. Perhaps because Sagittarians are half adventurous and independent and half warrior always ready for battle. the horse bit describes Tony Keys (born 12th December) best since picking up anything heavy like a bow and arrow is out of the question! And who feels like battling about anything anyway, laid-back is far healthier.

Born in RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, Tony grew up all over the world. As an RAF officer's son, Tony went to school in Cyprus, Malta, Libya, Sleaford UK, so its no wonder that he graduated with A levels which included Geography.

Having grown up in so many countries, Tony has an easy-going nature, always ready to socialise and learn as much about people and places as possible. Although his first job included selling ice-cream, he soon moved onto becoming a knitwear cutter and upholsterer. This could not possibly have been his introduction into electronics, (going from large objects to minute ones) but it soon became something that Tony still excels in. With the patience of a mule (horse?), he can dissect and rebuild anything that has wires, buttons, chips, RAMS, ROMS and the word "complex" attached to it.

Being a charmer then, (and now) Tony decided to impersonate a doctor in a local UK hospital in order to date a nurse! The lengths this man will go to.

Tony's hobbies have always included music and he played the keyboard in a band for many years, meeting Agnetha Faltskog, of ABBA fame, and practicing guitar with Status Quo. Later his admiration for Steve Wright is what got Tony interested in radio. After moving to Spain, he decided to start an English Radio Station, and Central FM was born.

His wit, humour and spontaneous form of presenting, along with his incredible knowledge of music, particularly the late 60s and the whole of the 70s has turned Tony Keys into a very much loved presenter. His wonderful, unselfish, caring nature comes across on air, and if his show includes favourites such as Michael McDonald, Phil Vassar, Beach Boys, Eagles or more currently Eminem or Charlotte Church (mostly the looks), he's in his element.

As one of the founders of Central FM, Tony has been involved in every aspect of radio, especially technical, which has made Central FM unique in Commercial and Station Jingle Production.

For the best fun, innuendos and wit on radio, including the possibility of winning a bunch of bananas, join Tony Keys every morning, Monday to Friday from 8am.
